Ohio First in Nation to Use "Direct" Messaging Across State Lines: December 26, 2011

Kym Taflinger (left) of Health Partners of Western Ohio is the first person in the nation to successfully send and receive messages from physicians' offices between Ohio and Mississippi . This secure, "Direct" messaging will allow patient data to eventually be shared across states. What used to be done by fax or phone call will now be done via secure email. She celebrates with Janis Sunderhaus (right), CEO of Health Partners of Western Ohio and a board member of the West Central Ohio Health Information Exchange.
